The central picture shown above is of Bunnykins Day Nursery nr Wrexham. The design brief was to replace the current grassed area with a bright colourful area that children from 3 months to 4 years could enjoy. Work began when Bunnykins had builders lift the turf and set in place battens around the perimeter of the area, this was then filled with hardcore and compacted. The area was now ready for Evergreens to install the surface. The surface and shock-pad were all fitted in one day by three of our fitters - the surface was in two parts one 15m long by 8m wide and the second 13m long by 2m wide. These were joined on site to make the surface one piece which was then stretched over the battens and fixed.

Ideas behind Bunnykins Nursery Play Area

  1. Road to show young children how to cross roads safely.
  2. Help to teach young children 1234 and abc whilst playing.
  3. Teach children how to tell the time on the clock face which has lift off hands.
  4. Even after heavy rain within a few hours it is dry and clean to play on.

The right hand picture shows and indoor area for the BBC production 'House of Tiny Tearaway's' where producers decided to incorporate a road surface for the children to learn safety lessons whilst playing.
