Fitting onto Soil:
See our detailed fitting examples page.

Temporary Installation:
The surface can be double sided taped down or loose laid and kept down with garden furniture or flower pots.
Also on ply/mdf areas it may be stapled down. Always ensure that the surface is fixed down adequately to
guard against the wind.

Roof Gardens and other areas where the Sub-floor area may need to be accessed:
For roof gardens and areas where the sub-floor may need to be accessed for repairs etc, Evergreens recommends that 9mm rubber is first laid and joined. Then fix the surface as normal using a recommended adhesive. Once this has cured the surface can be rolled up to repair the sub-floor then rolled back down. See Our Roof Garden Page

How Can I Join The Surface:
Our surfaces can be joined with our hot melt tapes or adhesive and backing tape both of which are
available per linear metre, and although we can join here at the factory, the cost of shipping extra long
lengths may not be practical. (5m - 11m wide etc....)

How Do I Use Hot Melt Tape:
Suitable on all fibre bonded and some artificial grass products.
Unroll the two surfaces face down that require joining, using a straight edge trim both join edges
(approx 15-30mm) (pic 2). Push both surfaces together so they form a tight join. Lay the hot melt tape glue down
over the join. Starting from one end heat up the tape up using a carpet fitters iron or a old domestic iron
(max temp) so that the glue melts below. Work in 30cm sections allowing each to cool before moving on.
When complete trim off any waste tape and turn over the surface.

How Do I Use The Adhesive And Backing Tape:
Suitable on all products.

1. Once groundwork is complete unroll the two surface that require joining ensuring the pile runs in the same direction over lay one on the other by approx 50mm.
2. Fold back each section along the join edge by approx 30cm - 40cm. (pic. 1)
3. Place join tape on ground along the centre line of the join, ensuring equal tape under each roll, ( nails can be used to hold this in place) (pic 1 and 4)
4. Using a straight edge trim each edge of surface to give a clean join edge. This is better done by hand on Lazygrass keeping between tufts. Check that the surface meet along the join, move if needed to provide a good join. re-fold over once checked (pic 2-3)
5. Using a cartridge gun apply adhesive along one edge as shown. Usually start on the largest section or if more then two section start from one side and work along. (pic 5-6)
6. Place the first section down and rub along edge to ensuring contact onto the join tape. (pic 6)
7. Apply adhesive to second section as shown below, (pic 5-6)
8. Fold this section over using two or more people, Start from one end and work to the other. The aim is to tuck the join together without crushing tufts. One person should be pushing the join together and the others hold the remaining carpet away from the adhesive to ensure tufts are not crushed. Try to sliding the join together rather than pushing the join together one on top of the other. (pic 7)
9. Once down using a float or a piece of timber to rub over the join to ensure contact. To ensure contact with the adhesive place boards or weights along the join. (pic 8)
10. On larger joins work in small sections (approx 2m - 3m) and follow the same instructions above.

Permanent Installation onto concrete, asphalt and similar surfaces.
1. Remove all debris and dust.
2. The concrete should be reasonably smooth and dry, and ideally have a fall to help disperse rainwater. If there is no fall, it's recommended that a few drainage holes are made in the concrete.
3. It is also a option to use a 9mm rubber shock pad under the surface. This helps reduce any imperfections in the sub-floor and also acts as a shock pad.(pic 10)
4. Fix the surface 100% with a recommended adhesive, F74 or Apollo for outdoor and wet areas. F3 for dry indoor areas.(pic 9)
5. Any joins should be done before applying adhesive to near the join area, then follow the instruction in the joining section above.
6. The surface must be fully rolled for about ½ hour for good adhesion.
7. It is recommended to sand dress the long pile surfaces (Grass Park Junior / Senior) whilst dry, with kiln dry sand. Use 7-10 kgs per sq.m this will ensure that the pile does not flatten, prolonging the life of the product. (pic 11) (outdoor only)

Installation onto Compact Soil (Using Lazygrass)

1. Mark out the area that is to be covered
2. Using a turf cutter remove the turf including roots.
3. (optional) fix tanilized timber battens around perimeter 3-4" x 1¾, fix in place using tanilized wooden stakes.
4. Ensure soil is compact and level any rough areas.
5. Cover the area with a geotex material to discourage weed growth.
6. Unroll the surface and fix to timber surround if fitted.
7. When fully fixed the whole area should be sand filled with dry silica sand or kiln dry sand, 10/20 kgs per sq.m. This should be carried out whilst the surface is dry to allow the sand to filter into the pile. Use a stiff brush to apply. (pic 11) If no timber surround is installed extra sand should be applied to the edge of the surface (approx 30-50cm into area)

The example below demonstrates how to finish your artificial grass when fitting up to a concrete pad, slab or tarmac. We recommend you lift all existing turf and bevel the soil around each slab or along the length or of any patio, concrete pad etc, This bevel needs to be the depth of the artificial grass you are using minus 5 - 10mm so at the edge of the slab if using 40mm thick Lazy Grass you would bevel down approx 30-35mm this bevel tapers down from approx 30cm back from the slab this allow for a gentle bevel rather than a steep drop around the edges.
This method give clean looking edges and eliminates the edges of the artificial grass showing, Our Everedge is also a great way of giving your lawn shape or separating the lawn area from boarders and hiding the edge of the grass. EverEdge also see our Fitting Lazy Grass Page

Lawn Fitting Example
Construction and Fixing to a bound base.

1. Remove turf to a depth of 3-4 inches and weed kill area.(pic 12)
2. fix tanilized timber battens around perimeter 3-4" x 1¾, fix in place using tanilized wooden stakes.
3. (option) Apply a geotex material to the prepared area, this stabilizes the area and discourages weed growth.
4. Fill area with grade 1 MOT 30mm to dust hardcore (granite) or similar and compact level to the top of the battens with a wacker plate or roller. (pic 13-14) Finally blind the hardcore with 5mm hardcore to dust and compact. (Note if a shock pad is required allow 10mm below timber to accept the shock pad.) (pic 15-17)
5. Unroll surface, stretch over battens and using clout nails fix to battens. (pic 18)
6. When fully fixed the whole area should be sand filled with dry silica sand or kiln dry sand, 7/10 kgs per sq.m. This should be carried out whilst the surface is dry to allow the sand to filter into the pile. Use a stiff brush to apply. (pic 11)

Top Fitting Tip
When trimming your surface against walls. Hold your knife backwards into the wall and score the surface, then trim off waste.
When Lifting you old lawn hire a Turf Cutter as this makes light work of removing turf.
