Why not transform wasted roof space into usable leisure space at home or work. We supply many surfaces suited for covering roof areas in a variety of colour's and textures. Over the years we have been trading we have established methods to install artificial grass to roof areas without the need to fix to the current roof surfaces, this enables the building owner or tennant to install artificial grass without voiding any warranty on PVC or EPDM flat roofing systems. Our fixing method is also suitable on lead roofs or buildings with large lead flashing's, this is of benefit as using adhesives on lead will cause damage or staining when removing the artificial grass at a later date.
The pictures above are of a installation in Inverness, Scotland. The purpose of the artificial grass was to hide the existing EPDM roof surface which was checked for damage and repaired before the artificial grass was installed. The building had recently been converted from offices to luxury penthouse apartments overlooking Loch Ness and Inverness Castle. The view before the installation was of an ugly gray and red flat roof which was putting potential customers off purchasing properties, leading the developers to contact Evergreens UK to supply and install 700sqm of our Lazy Grass Emerald. As with most large roof installation Evergreens arranged for seven 4m wide rolls to be lifted to the roof along with 10 tonne of sand. The installation took place over three days in November and during 70mph winds which make any installation very difficult. The finished effect transformed the area allowing residents to view Loch Ness with out having to overlook a large flat roof. The client was very pleased and already have other project planned.
When installing any roof area you must consider a few things before installing, is the roof water tight and will it remain so during the artificial grasses life time, Will the roof structure carry the extra weight of the artificial grass allowing for snow, water and people using the area. It is also very important to check the area for suitable safety barriers around the perimeter of the roof allowing for young children. Also a major element of any roof area is the increased wind speed, this can be overcome by a number of methods:-
1. Use a sand filled artificial grass with a higher fill rate on the perimeter edges but the roof must be checked for suitability of the extra weight.
2. Apply adhesive around the perimeter edge and ensure a good bond. (Check roof surface before use) Also use planters for example on high risk areas.
3. Use a rubber underlay and adhere the artificial grass to the rubber, this allows the grass to be rolled up in emergences i.e. roof leaks.
