For this installation in Leicester, Lazy Lawn
was called in to completely overhaul the area including adding
shaped boarders and extending the pathway to the rear of the
garden. The area was completely water logged and turned into
a mud bath by the customer's playful dogs. This caused mud to
be carried into the house by the dogs and problems for the elderly
customer to access the shed at the rear of the garden.
The area was approximately 300sqm. This was first cleared of
turf and loose soil. The soil base was then levelled using our
turf cutter to provide a level base on which the hardcore was
placed and compacted this in turn was blinded with 6mm - 1mm
granite and again compacted. This provides a clean smooth surface
that ensures a trouble free installation and allows water to
quickly drain away.
When installing your lawn consider keeping features showing
like tree roots or rock out crops. Many people make the mistake
of covering over features which can result in a lawn looking
too perfect. We work on the principle that, if it would naturally
show and would add feature value then leave it showing. This
may be a little fiddly to install but the finished work looks
so much more realistic. This also applies to natural falls and
ground levels, again removing natural falls can leave a garden
looking a little like a bowling green.
